Wedding cake in a Faye Cahill Design

I made this cake as a gift for friends who had a wedding reception today. I had taken a Faye Cahill Craftsy class and fell in love with this design. Top and bottom tiers painted in edible pearl luster dust thinned with Everclear. Middle tier painted in edible gold luster dust. Edible cake lace, royal icing lattice stencil. Fondant flowers dipped in pearl candy sprinkles and Jimmies. Gumpaste Magnolias.

That was the good news. Now the bad. I dropped the 14" bottom tier just inches away from my car. It landed inside my rolling shopping cart and shattered into millions of pieces. I ran out and bought a half sheet cake from the grocers so there would be enough servings. I screamed, I cried and I said many very bad words! Then I took a tranquilizer and came home.

You’ve blown me away with the absolute beauty of this cake, Shirley, then broken my heart when I saw the gorgeous bottom tier! So sorry you had this happen, but your cake is incredible, even without the bottom tier. So many interesting techniques which I would like to try (I took the class, too :o)

Oh my goodness <3 <3 I am so sorry xoxoxo .. but the cake is beautiful <333333 and it was smart thinking to go get a sheet cake for the people to eat so you had enough.. We all have had things happen Shirley next time it will be better xoxoxo
