I made this cake for a sweet little girl turning 1 with the theme of Butterflies, flowers and a tiara. Cake inspired by Louisa Morris Cakes. Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. All edible decorations, the blocks are my first attempt. I’m hoping to get them more square next time, thanks for looking :)

Hey Benni, thanks. Yes it is…it was easier than I thought it would be…I think the Fondant Gods were smiling on me this day. Sometimes I fight with a simple round cake and I stressed over covering all these odd angles cleanly, but it kind of all fell into place. I’m doing a ‘50’ tomorrow….you watch, it will go totally pear shaped lol!! :) xxx

Oh wow thanks Sasha!! I used a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste, and they were drying a bit too quickly. Have you seen Michelle Rea’s tutorial on blocks? It’s fab and i can’t wait to try some more having watched it ;) xx

Did you use a mould for the tiara? <3

No, there probably is a cutter or mold out there but I did this one by hand. I used 3 different size heart shape cutters on a piece of fondant and then cut the shape around them :)
