Edwardian Rose

Edwardian Rose

I am very excited to share my Wedding Cake design for DIY Wedding Magazine’s “Around the World Wedding Cakes”. This was a very special 5th anniversary edition of the magazine.

The cake I created is called Edwardian Rose. My inspiration was taken from the Edwardian period of England. Gone were the dark, dreary colours of the Victorians and in came lighter colours and flowing fabrics which started to dominate clothing fashions and interior design. Pale coloured damask fabrics were popular as were pretty lace designs. Platinum, silver and white gold were the most popular metals used.

I wanted to bring many of these elements into my design hence the silver lustred tiers, a pretty damask on the bottom tier and brush embroidery lace pattern. The roses are based on heirloom roses of the past. I hope you enjoy my cake and this fantastic issue of the magazine.

I feel so honoured to be a part of this beautiful collection of wedding cake designs from around the world and included among so many talented cake designers!

Thank you Candace Beau Petit Cupcakes and DIY Weddings Magazine for this great opportunity.
