I happened upon this distressed, crackled technique when I was experimenting with royal icing and silver leaf. It didn’t work for the cake I was working on at the time but I thought it would be a great effect for a vintage cake. I took inspiration from lace painted annie sloan chalk paint dressers. I used lots of layering techniques with different mediums to create the overall effect…and will be releasing a blog pst/tutorial on how to achieve the effect.

I added paper flowers and a burlap ribbon to compliment the aesthetic.
