Country Chic Wedding Cake

Country Chic Wedding Cake

This was my first attempt at making edible lace and was pretty pleased with how it turned out. The first piece wasn’t pretty but once I figured out what I did wrong the rest turned out very well. What was supposed to be a “tan” color turned rather gold once it dried. I was so worried about it but when delivered it they had the cake table set with a gold colored fabric and it matched perfectly. I built the stand from tree limbs and slices of wood obtained from the craft store. The bride just wanted them iced vs. using fondant and made cupcakes as well to ensure enough servings of each cake flavor. I found laser cut lacey holders which went very well with the edible lace. I also wrapped a Styrofoam round the same size as the cake layer with lace and pearls to give each cake height and to bring in more elements used in the room décor. This allowed us to cut the cake without having to remove a lot of decorations.
