This sugar flower cake was featured in Issue Three of Sweet Magazine!!! So thankful to be a part of it and thrilled to be one of the Editor’s Choice picks. Here’s a little more about the cake:
Peach Poppies and Bees
This cake is inspired by many things. We referenced everything from beautiful overflowing floral arrangements to still life paintings by French watercolour painter Paul de Longpre. Sugar poppies with striking black and aubergine centers were chosen as the focal point of the arrangement. Sugar bees in an ornate gold buzz through the cakes all sugar garden. Reminiscent of vintage china patterns, metallic gold was chosen for dramatic contrast and to add structure amongst all of the billowing sugar florals. Sugar peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas, berries, and an assortment of buds and foliage add to the notion that the cake is swarmed by wild flowers.
