Sparkle Weddding Cake

A three tiered “Bling” themed cake complete with a stunning sparkle effect finish. You can’t quite see in the photos how much it sparkled but trust us with the naked eye it did…..we were thrilled and so was the lady that asked us to make it. The bottom tier is a luxury fruit cake, the middle vanilla with vanilla buttercream, and the top tier is Lemon sponge with lemon buttercream and lemon curd (made from our very own lemons)…..we would have made a sparkly topper, but fresh roses were the table decorations so that was included on the cake……hope you like it.

Beautiful cake. How did you get the sparkles on the fondant?

Hi Tricia…..after a lot of trials and errors we finally came up with something that worked a treat and we have just had an email back to say it looked amazing in the evening (unfortunately we were not there at that point and we are waiting for the photos)…..we used a glitter dust and a mix of water and alcohol and my daughter made a small video which is available on You Tube……hope it is OK to post on here as I am new to this site, but here is the link …. if you try it, remember you just keep repeating and repeating whilst the cake is damp……eventually when dried it forms a sparkly crust…… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNyimp9gclg
