Red and Silver Wedding Cake

A collegue from work approached me about making her wedding cake. When I asked what she had in mind, I shuddered! Red and Silver was her theme, as it would match her Sari and the wedding stage that she and her husband to be were getting married on. I decided that if the cakes were to be red then they should also have silver on them to break up the huge amount of red. I attached silver dragees (silver balls) and silver coated chocolate buttons then I draped silver coloured paste ribbon and bows around each tier. I bought 3 silver and red glass brooches to complete the design. The bride also wanted 20 matching cupcakes for some of the children attending. I took the 3 types of quilting effects from the main cakes and transferred them to the cupcakes, so they all matched.
