We just recently celebrated my daughters 1st birthday and rather than go with the normal themes ie. princess, mermaid ect.. I decided to plan and design her cake and birthday around a dress I had especially made for her. Of course it has cakes on it. I combined not on;y the elements of her dress, but also some techniques I have been wanting to try. Like the pleats and practicing a little string work. Which is not perfect, but I enjoyed it so much. I really love to pipe as much as I can. I think that the end result is very pleasing to the eye and it was a real pleasure to make one for my own. The bottom tier is a cherry ripe mud cake. Middle is white chocolate raspberry swirl with white chocolate ganche and top is chocolate mud cake. I also made sugar cookies, chocolate coated oreo’s, macaron’s and cupcakes for her dessert table. It was a great day. Though it was very hot. My daughter was very spoiled, but you only turn one once right?
