And yet, you’ve already given us your beautiful take on the fault line cake! There is no reason you cannot keep playing, just for fun. That is exactly what I do. I am too lazy to do it as a business.
I can’t seem to get completely away from it Sandra. Especially as I say, when something new in design comes along.
Nothing wrong with that, Shirley! Now you can do it for pleasure without the stress!
Thank you, Shirley! You are right, there definitely seems to be different techniques going around and I love it! It’s fun to see the new trends. Remember separated cakes? They seem to be out dated but I wonder if it will be like fashion and they will come around again.
When I was moving last year, I was looking through my old American Cake Decorating magazines & what did I see from TEN years ago? The geode cake! I thought it had only been popular in the past few years. I just made a fault line cake which according to my one friend, is out already. I just bake for friends & family so they’ll have to pardon me!!
Donna, I would not be at all surprised if the separated cakes did not come back into fashion. Look at all of the renewed interest in piping and rightly so! That’s what I think of as real cake decorating, even if I can’t do it.
@Jazz, I loved those American Cake Decorating magazines. They were way over my skill set when I bought them, but still enjoyed them.
They had another magazine too which had “amateur” decorating & I got lots of ideas from that one. I was disappointed when they discontinued publishing that one.
