How about using your flower on top as you originally intended and set the couple at the base of the cake. She gets her figures and you get your perfect cake. I’ve seen several done that way and, personally, I like it.

Hmmm I would point out to her that the cake would look more elegant without the figures. Perhaps come up with something to put them on and set it on the table next to the cake. this way they would still be on display but not on the actual cake.

I’m sure your cake will be perfect any way you will decorate It. Just smile on my drawing, dear! 😁😘

Clara 😂😂😂 Perfect solution.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. If I’d had the time putting the figures on a dummy cake would have been a perfect solution but I’m soo busy this week getting ready for Christmas. I decided just to put the figures on as requested but took photos beforehand. I just never thought I’d ever be able to make such an elegant cake so I suppose it’s just me wanting to impose my own wishes. Kathy will have her fun cake but I’ll always have my photos. lol However, should the situation arise again the dummy cake suggestion is perfect! xx

I’ve had the same thing happen to me. Very difficult for the cake designer because you have put your heart and soul into the cake making sure that it is stunning BUT in the end, it is the bride’s cake to do with as she wishes. My solution would have been to do exactly what you have done – take pictures first without the figurines and then put them on as requested. No one has said that you had to use the pics with the figurines as advertising for your work. The artistry belongs to you and you are free to choose how/what images you use to show your work!

The cake’s been delivered so here’s the before and after photos. Her wedding dress is navy with silver embroidery.

Stunning cake, Lizzie! Your figures are so beautifully done, they do not even take away from the cake! Awesome job!

You did such an amazing job on the figures. They look fabulous on the cake :)

Dear Lizzie, as I said, your cake is perfectly done!
So beautiful figurine, so beautiful colours!
Bravo!
Love It 😍🎄

Cake is beautiful either one. You gave those figures such a fun personality.

Thanks everyone. I suppose you really have to know the people to realise why they had to be leaning back laughing. I wanted to make it look like they were sharing a joke. But I really did love it before hand. I suppose I’ve just spent so much time trying to perfect that super elegance which you all give to your cakes. I’m finally making the cakes I’ve always wanted to make and I suppose I was just afraid of ruining it. xx
