What a thought ;) I would love to be an artist and expand all the horizons on sculpting and painting xx

Yup, I’m working hard to be a philosopher :)

You are an artist already – you use sculpting and painting on your cakes.

Great Topic!!!
oh yes Michal… sounds deep and meaningful…Id like to be a forensic scientist!!!!
Im also in agreement with Znique re panting and ceramics…mine has taken a back shelf of late.. but I would love to run a B&B Villa in Italy’s Tuscany area. Id have to learn Italian, :)

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits

I would be a Pathologist. Conducting autopsies, I think it’s fascinating. Maybe in my next life.

Quite a contrast to what I do now – LOL

At this stage in my life, I would open a multi-purpose studio to teach 3-D art, sugar flowers, ceramics – make it a fun place where people come to discover their inner artist! I can see it already… Maybe I should buy a Lotto ticket – :)

Wow…. Good question Michal!!
I’m retired now, so working for a living is a mute point. Don’t know what I would have said a few years ago when I was working. Probably the same as I’m doing now, doing whatever I want when I want…no time constraints….free to do artsy things…crafts, decorating, more travelling….But if I had more money…I’d take voice lessons, learn to play the violin., art lessons…earn to tango….I could go on & on…..

Creativity is God's gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God. Clarky's Cakes 😎

MsGF: Pathologist? I didn’t expect that someone will say this :) really a contrast.

As I’m reading your answers, it seems like we have to work more so we can work less in the future…never-ending story :)

Ahhh not me Michal……I’m free…. I done paid my dues….hee hee.. :o)

Wishful thinking on my part, Michal!! Up till retirement age (65 in Malta), I will always have to work for a living or else starve!!!! However I still manage to combine work with pleasure even though I have a 9 to 5 job!!!!! BUT if like DG I buy a lotto ticket and ………….I would persue my biggest passion, traveling!!!

My dream job would be an Architect. I love using computer programs and graph paper to design or re-design rooms and houses. I designed a re-model of my sons house a couple years ago and he and his father in law did the construction. It came out amazing! The design included adding a bedroom, total kitchen, changing a living room into a dining room and turning an un-used garage into a vaulted living room. Such fun!

What a great question Michal!
Well, ive always loved nature, wildlife and the outdoors. As a child I would buy Wwf magazines and I was in the Y.O.C at school (young ornithologists club). I always wanted to be a vet when I grew up! My dad used to take me fishing! And my hubby and I have always fished! Until, unfortunately, my hubbys spine gave in and we had to stop going. But thats another story.
Anyway,, I would love to live on a nature reserve somewhere like Canada, BC. And do the hunting/fishing tours and keep lots of animals on lots of land. How about that Michal?! ;-))

I wanted to be a window dresser at Harrods when I was at school, but my Dad wanted me out at work so that didn’t happen. I worked at what I was good at which was making garments in factories till I was asked to train as a Technologist and learnt to cut patterns. Then when factories started to close and business went overseas I became a Tech for High st companies making sure the garments made abroad were made correctly and the quality and fit right. I still do the same job role today but to be honest although I might be good what I do I’ve never really liked working as a Tech………..then I found cake decorating…………and now I know what I want to be……….and one day I’d like to have my own shop so I can decorate my own window!!!! xxx

Awwww lovely Karen!
I really do hope you get your shop! xxx

Thank you Christine…….I’m working on it xx

Sleep haha or on a more serious note teach cooking in schools i always thought schools need to get down to the nitty gritty show where food comes from, how it grows, how to properly prepare meat, sauces, fish and vegetables etc and also how to bake bread and cakes from scratch so on and so on. Would also love to learn to play the piano.

Ooooh just thought of another one! Can I have two? ;-)
If I cant move to Canada, I would love to be a pastry chef! I get such a thrill from pies, tarts, desserts and all things patisserie!

Great choice Liz! Id also like to learn an insrument!

sugar and art - perfect combination! sugarmagic22@gmail.com

That’s a good one Liz. I had forgotten about something I would like to do…and it’s similar to yours. Teaching how to cook…new young married men & women, low income…healthy. Not using pre-packaged foods…but from scratch, which is the best. It’s actually cheaper and of course, not laden with chemicals..etc. Using whole grains, less sugar… Guess this is because I had home economics in school, learned to cook & sew…which has been thrown to the wayside now. And from a Mom who cooked/baked from scratch…made bread…etc…..

I love my day job, but it’s exhausting. Caking relaxes and keeps a busy mind occupied. I’d love to learn drawing technique and painting..perspective. …I’d love a massive relaxing holiday first, one including food! Lots of regional foods lol (maybe I can be a food critic)… yeah that would be cool ;)

Michal, you are still young!! ;)

I would like to be a nutricionist or sculptor, two opposite things I know :) …I’m been always fascinated by healthy food and I dream to create desserts specially for diabetic people :)
Maybe one day!!
I love the topic of the day

Karla, Italy, https://www.facebook.com/sweetk.cakedesign

I would love to go see world and paint, sculpt … .. and just enjoy the beautiful things the mountains, sunsets, oceans, animals, flowers, people ….things old and new.. :)))

If money were no object, I’d buy a huge yacht and sail it around the world. I’d like to be a nurse, but at my age, it’s getting to be a dream that’s out of my reach.

www.facebook.com/amandaslittlecakeboutique

I would be an actress. My degree is in drama but I was never really good enough to persue it as a career but we’re in dream world right?! Whilst we’re dreaming I’d have played netball for England but for that I’d have needed to grow another foot! ;)

In real life if I had the money now I’d set up a cake school where I could host visiting tutors and learn from them all whilst they taught the students!

Mel, Yorkshire, http://www.facebook.com/doncastercustomcakery

Love your choice Bethan! :-)
Mel…… I could just see you in emmerdale, being all dramatic!!! ;-)

I love this question Michal, just a couple of weeks ago I went back to work full time, which is at a bakery decorating cakes. I like the idea of having a shop that has many sides to it, like a small cafe with a wine bar in the middle, a cake decor class going on in the back, a quilt shop on one side and a craft or art studio on the other. And I would love to run a small farm, I love going to the country, so peaceful.
So really like Fun Fiesta Cakes an all in one place for art, quilt and, cake shop. Over the years I have done many things, radiology, nursing, making stained glass, building wood furniture, wood turning, making quilts, and unique purses, and been a stay at home mom to my 5 kids. I am very blessed and who knows, maybe one day, I am still young (sort of).
Have a blessed day everyone.

Shannon of Sweet ObsesShan

I would learn to play the violin, and traveling a lot, looked after homeless animals, devoted more time to carve eggs, which I love, and a long time ago that I do not…I was going to have a very busy life.

Before I started making cakes I was set on being a script writer for film, I would still love to do that now if I had the chance. But, ever since I was a child, I had always wanted to own my own sweet shop….Oooh a cake and sweet shop, new life goal!! haha ;)

I used to write music and would love to go back to that, it was my whole life in my 20s, now it’s 3 kids later and I can’t imagine that freedom anymore! And in a perfect world I would love to do dressage to music with a wonderful horse too… Ok back to the washing up now.. :D lovely topic and so cool to hear other people’s stories :)

I would like to make cakes :) before I found cake decorating I wanted to start a cafe bookshop or similar, as a hangout and a kind of comforting “home” for the huge number of people who don’t feel comfortable or at home where they live for various reasons… Somewhere they can come and just be accepted for who they are, not have to justify themselves or their choices and can stay as long as they want. If they wanted to talk we would be there, if not then cool. Wanted to have free counselling sessions for anyone who books, with a pro in a back room once a week, and events/ book circles etc. I’m sure one day I will make this happen, because I feel the world really needs it. There was most certainly a time in my life when I did. I hope you will all come visit me when it’s open :)

We had a place like this for youth Sawsen where I live. Great drop in…beverages, snacks, counselling…closed down from lack of support/funding. :o(

Creativity is God's gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God. Clarky's Cakes 😎

June we had a whole business plan, down to a constitution and policies lol… Funding was an issue but more for startup, as the whole thing was to be non profit, and the cafe/book sales subsidise everything. I’m convinced it can work if we figure out the charity registration and legal side/ staffing. I almost left my job to do this full time a couple of years ago but wasn’t able to sort everything out… I’m sure when the time is right things will click into place and we could be open in a couple of months. Might even make wedding cakes to fund it instead of books :)

Well there are strict regulations and guidelines here regarding youth. So many adults, counsellors per teen. They relied strictly on donations. But, your idea of the coffee shop/books would help offset costs. And getting a non-profit status helps to. This really sounds like a wonderful plan Sawsen. I hope it comes to fruition for you one day soon…..

Thank you <3 I hope so :)

I work as a garden center manager , but I would love to open my own bakery / florist . I am passionate about both , have done a couple weddings , did both the cake and all the flowers .

You know, I actually have no idea? I mean I still have family to support and care for, money doesn’t change that. Perhaps I would do more for my kids in terms of giving them more opportunities and take more time out to smell the roses.

Hi Michael , if I didn’t need money my dream job would be working with the lesser priveleged children and orphans . Hold theatre and music classes for them and train them to join the mainstream world :)

Ancy's Sweet Art

I would love to have a zoo and garden combined, in which people could see animals in large enclosures and have lovely grounds to walk around. Somewhere for people to chill out and to help get kids into working with animals and plants.
Still waiting for that lottery ticket to come up, but when it does a zebra will be first on the shopping list followed by tapirs. I know. I’m mad.

gateaux de mandy

Wow.. I am so in tuned with my cake and catering shop, I would have to think about that… (opened a shop with very little in 1986~ but started decorating cakes in 1980). I have never had art classes, and think it would be wonderful to know how to sculpt cakes and do more art designs on them. Although I do love to cook in my catering business, but my back, joints, etc.. are taking their toll due to heavy lifting and pro-longed standing, etc…. So I guess if I had the option, I would take art, and extensive cake decorating classes. Also would love to share my ideas and maybe teach cake classes. I also love to help animals, children and elderly, so would want to donate all proceeds to those causes, if I didn’t have to worry about income. I do however help in small ways with March Of dimes children’s benefit, and animal rescue. Great question.. I’m sure I will think of more answers after I post this… lol

Nancy (Nancy's Fancy's Cakes & Catering)

Hi Michal … I am one of those who chooses to work regardless of whether or not it is required. I don’t see that changing. I enjoy working long days in my design studio and office, pushing myself hard and enjoy making a difference. Unfortunately though, life can hand you some serious crushing hampering responsibility at times which only time can take care of. Once responsibility free (which appears to be coming closer), I would like to freely live with my husband in various parts of the world, continue to grow my company wherever I am and become even more so involved in the cake design industry. In my free time I would like to find and visit Mandy’s zoo and the zebras.

Beverley Way, http://www.beverleywaycollection.com, https://www.facebook.com/BeverleyWayCollection

^ XD ahaha me too, I’d love to visit all of the zoos, shops, studios etc on this list :)

I do the mom
I am Italian, and I apologize for my english ..
I always wanted to be a mother, and after many mishaps came Raffaella and then Alice ..
I decided to decorate cakes to make special first birthday of my daughter, and then I really like the art, so I wanted to study at a school fair but my dad was against it ..
Well, I wanted to do what I do, I’m happy to be a mom decorator of cakes, maybe with some more study to better my work ..

Working in Forensics was always my dream job and I’ve now been doing it for 20 years and finally feel like I can do something different. I have always had the utmost respect for athletes and their discipline. As a little tacker I used to dream about being an athlete and was placed in the cross country running state team but mum and dad didn’t approve. As I got older and more engrossed in studies, university and then work I never had the time to train the long hours athletes do, so that would be my dream job now is to spend the day running and training. Plus I’d move to Singapore and happily live there :)

Thanks all of you for your support for my “zoo” will let you all know WHEN I win the lottery (ha ha always optimistic) and free entry for all of you. Must confess though I know I wouldn’t be able to quit cake decorating altogether though, as I am well and truly hooked.

It is also so great to hear how so many of you want to, and try to, give back to your communities. Great spirit and keep up the good work.

gateaux de mandy

Well I did quit my day job my last semester of pastry school, but I had a back up. Worked at my husband’s breakfast place until he sold it 2 weeks ago. I also teach dance fitness. My dream job would of had been a ballerina or actress. Do miss a paycheck now that we sold the business and are awaiting the next venture.

Maddy

I really would like to be a archeologist would love to discover old things!
But travel around the world is a good option too :-)
