Hi Amber! if you don’t feel confident with writing could you not use little letter cutters? They come in all different sizes and do a very neat job! :-) x

Were do u purchase them

or you could practice… print out your letters on a piece of paper… pipe over the font, until you feel you can do it without the paper. There is also another method where you can use a printed font as a template, and pin prick or indent through the template, to mark your cake… then pipe over the markings.

Hi Amber, Do you have a Hobby Lobby or Michaels close to you? They should have letter cutters in their cake section. They always have a 40% off coupon as well. My favorite letters are silicon letter molds by Martha Stewart. I use them all the time. You can find them in the Martha Stewart section. So easy to use. Just fill them with fondant, put in the freezer for a few minutes, and they pop out easily. Here is what they look like on a cake I recently made.

Toni, brilliant idea to put in the freezer, I use that MArtha Stewart letter mild all the time and sometimes they stick and don’t want to put too much starch; thanks :-)

I do everything I can to keep from writing on cakes. Mostly, I’ll use gumpaste plaques or fondant banners and write on those, which I can do using a food marker. But I have used all the techniques mentioned above too, and all work well in certain situations.

There are also letter stamps that imprint the letters onto the cake. Then u just pipe over the imprint. I got mine at Bulk Barn.

I haven’t “written” on a cake in years. Like these other ladies, I use cutters or moulds for my letters. I also have a cheapie set from my Dollar store where you can push into a round circle and either go over with piping or lustre dust. I think the cutter/moulded letters look much more professional on a cake unless you have superior piping.
