i’m looking to make this for my grandson. You did an awesome job! do you have a template for the bottom structure? also how much cake and what size cake did you use? I’m assuming about 5-6 layers high, then sculpted? You don’t ha[[en to have a picture of it before you put fondant on??
marottawa I made this cake three years ago and don’t remember the details or if I took any progress pictures. I’ll have a look to see what I can find and get back to you.

Thanks so much kelly. Any help would be more than welcomed! Thanks.
My sincere apologies as this totally slipped my mind. I started a new job for the summer and have just been running non-stop at home. Is it now too late to help out?

No worries. Just made the cake. Made the stand out of metal instead of wood. Just a quick question. For the tongue and the back part of the boot. Did you use gum paste/fondant moisture and mold it around a bottle to get the curved effect?
Mixture not moisture.
If I remember correctly, I just used fondant for those parts and put something inside of it for support until it dried.
I looked to find what I did for the cake but unfortunately didn’t take good notes other than that I baked a slab cake and cut that up for the skate.
I looked for photos of the making of it and have no idea where they are. I only got my nice camera just over a year ago and that cake was 3 years ago so I would have been using my tablet to photograph it. Trouble is, I dropped the tablet I had at that time and have no clue where the pictures are now ☹
