I love this way. I have always thought about trying it as I hate covering cakes at all. But I am always scared to tip the cake upside down lol.

I have too many cake fears!

Thank you so much!

I think we all have, it was scary the first time, but as long as you have the boards to hold above and below and you do it quick, its fine!

That doesn’t work with thin Sugarpaste, like my 2mm MTT or with typical German fillings like Fruit Cream Fillings ;)

No it wouldnt Torteneleganz, thats why it states thick sugarpaste and a ganached cake. Needs a firm surface unfortunately

Christine would love to see pictures!

no problem good luck!

What a fab technique. MUST give this a try. Thankyou. x

I tried this on a buttercream cake but didn’t leave enough overhang so it ended up being naked at the bottom. I prefer using my flexi smoothers but I may try this method again in the future as the top of the cake was perfectly flat.

Candy's Cupcakes

What a great finish. Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! Have never worked with ganache, as it is not typical here in Puerto Rico. How does it behave in very hot and humid climates?

Would this work with a thick buttercream dirty ice instead? :D

Woody!

Yes I have had people say they have done it with buttercream!
