Wow Johnathan, what a story! I’m sure you dad is looking down on you with a huge smile on his face! I have only been doing cakes for 12 months and love it, pretty much all self taught and some dumb luck! :-)

Such a lovely story. So sorry you lost your Dad. But he left you a wonderful legacy!! You certainly do have God given talent!! But it does show with much practice …what you can achieve…. :o)

My late daughter is the inspiration behind my cakes. I ALSO am self taught…. and would love to go on courses. I make cakes as a hobby… and doing so because it helps me in difficult times to focus, and most of all to see others happy, makes me happy. Your father is proud of you x

Hi Jonathan, what a bittersweet story!!! Sorry to hear about your loss!! Losing a parent is always very difficult and heartbreaking, but I am sure your dad is keeping an eye on you and is very proud of all your achievements!!!

You are right, there are not a lot of course in Malta for aspiring Cake Decorators. Edward Calleja used to give courses on cake decorating. He learned the cake decorating art when he was living in England. I took a basic, intermediate and advanced course with him a long long time ago, (in the 1990’s) but I don’t think he is teaching any more as he is retired now. I learned the basics from him and them with the help of books and later internet and a lot of practice I started widening my techniques. I am still very green where modelling is concerned and I still have to make my first human 3d figure (I am afraid to try it), but tutorials on the internet are a great help.

Have you checked ITS maybe they have some courses on cake decorating if you are interested. Mind you , not that you need much help, you cakes are lovely and you painting on cakes is superb!!

Hi JT i am a amateur cake decorator and after a very exciting start i stop doing cakes because i do not have the possibility to do workshops because they r so expensive in Madeira

Your cakes r beautiful and reading your words make me believe i can achive beautiful cakes to if i carry on trainning day after they.
