Great job! thank you!

questions. 1. how do you get the look of froth?
2. was it baked in a coffee can?
3. what temp was it baked at for it to cook through?
My son would love this cake. Wonder if there is a recipe for a Beer cake?

MomCakes

Hi Vii, the froth I made with sugarpaste, it is not bake. And there are some recipes for beer cake, look it up and try ;) the cake was baked with round pans then leveled and trimed. Then I cuted the cake top to bottom (just the center to the edge) so it could fit the stick and closed it woth the chocolate ganache. Happy baking :)

Thanks for this pictorial tutorial. Is the can made from RCT or is it a real can stuck on the dowel? Thanks for your help.

Michael, Do you have any video tutorial for these type of cake? Thanks :)

Great tutorial, thank you for sharing

Is sugar paste and gum paste the same thing?

MomCakes

Hi Michael, I did a version of this cake. Thanks for the tutorial. I had to change a couple things and mine isn’t as nice as yours but then I’m just an occasional cake baker, lol. Pop over and take a look at it. Not to bad for soft frosting.

I don’t understand how you attached the “bend” in the dowel to hold the can. I would like to make this and would appreciate your help.

He used a screw but that was to complicated for me, lol. I put the dowel through the cake and put the can up to the height I wanted it, then cut the dowel. Then I put the can on the dowel where it would meet the can and where I wanted it to bend. At first I thought I could cut the dowel half way though and bend it, but the wood was too dry. It might work with a cutting from a live tree so the wood is green. Anyway since it didn’t work I just put my two pieces together with package tape with a little space between the two ends. After I covered the dowel with frosting I put the can back on. I covered the dowel with frosting up to where it would bend, just a little over where it went into the can. Hope this helps.

here is my cake

Can you tell me please what the “beer” on the dowel is made of and how it is done please.

It’s just frosting. I used the Swiss Buttercream recipe. I cut a dowel to be the height I wanted plus the length of the can, then I broke the dowel at where it entered the can then using packaging tape, taped it together. I then put the can on and bent it a little. I took the can off again and using a very large round tip I pipped frosting on the stick/dowel going from the bottom up to the bend where the tape was. At that point I put just a little of frosting to cover the tape and put the empty beer can over top of it. Does that help?
