I loved making this cake for this very quirky couple. It was very personal to them (a bit of a marmite cake I suspect, and for the non-english, that means you either love it or you hate it!) and incorporated lots of things that they love, including hot air balloons. The tortoise and the hare cut out is from the photograph on their Save the Date cards and is from a photoshoot they did to win a competition for their wedding flowers. It is four tiers of vanilla sponge with raspberry and Chambord buttercream, with the hot air balloon and basket being carved from polystyrene and covered in sugar paste.
