An unusual & cool theme for a baby shower—-Aztec! The excited parents-to-be are our cousins, & their nursery theme is Aztec, so they wanted that for her shower theme. She mentioned she loved foxes, & her mother-in-law sent me pics of the decor for the shower, which included this really neat ribbon with all these colored triangles on it. I immediately knew I wanted to use the pattern from the ribbon on the cake. Another inspiration piece was a basket draped with fur & a dreamcatcher.

So we put a fox in the basket as the topper, hand-painted dreamcatchers on the top tier, & hand-placed about 4 million little triangles on the bottom tier to create the Aztec pattern. So thrilled with how this came out, especially the adorable fox! My awesomely talented assistant cake artist, Jessica, modeled the fox & painted the dreamcatchers. I’m so lucky to have such fabulous help working with me!

The top tier is Strawberry Lemonade—with alternating layers of Strawberry & Lemon cake, with both Strawberry & Lemon Meringue buttercream filling. The bottom tier is Peaches & Cream cake, made with fresh peaches from one of the trees in my own yard! Sooo yummy & a perfect summertime treat!
