I loved making this cake for our lovely friend. I was asked to make it as a surprise for her Hubbys 40th birthday, her theme was “white wine” and I had free reign on the design, so I decided on a wine barrel.

Everything is handmade, and all edible. It is made from three 8 inch round cakes stacked and hand carved into a barrel shape, placed on a hand decorated board to look like wood flooring. The sides of the barrel are also hand scored to look like wood, there is metal effect trim complete with sugar paste rivets. The tap is hand sculpted, it is topped off with hand sculpted grapes in three shades of green and leaves. The birthday boy loved it :-)
