My first attempt at a vintage design, made for a lovely lady turning 92 and celebrating with High Tea at downtown Toronto’s Windsor Arms Hotel.

(Please pardon the lighting which makes the pics all look more yellow and washed out. It was an early morning pick up so I did not have good light to take photos with…)

This is not my usual style but I had fun with it and it was the perfect opportunity to use my new Filigree Damask onlay from Marvelous Molds. I love the versatility of the molds. I was able to easily combine two colours for the onlay which I think helps provide some interest and contrast in the design. These colours are more subtle than I’m used to and of course I had to add my signature pops of colour this time in bright pink, but I do love how it turned out.

The gumpaste teacup was my first real attempt at hand painting with gel colours and I must say I am quite happy with the outcome. I used a bunch of abstract, random brushstrokes in different shades of pink to give the impression of open rosettes but it was quite effective so easier than I thought.

Hope y’all like it!
