The last of my three cakes in one week. I don’t know how some of you make so many cakes in a week. I was so stressed with making the three, and was up until the wee hours of the morning just trying to finish up. I’m happy with how they all turned out, and when they are for friends and family, it’s hard to say “no, I don’t have time”. Little smash cake with gumpaste topper, and 50 assorted cupcakes with daisy, ladybug, and #1 fondant toppers. Carrot cake, chocolate, and vanilla. Thank you so much for looking, and a Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers!!

Golfing Doctor's 60th Birthday Cake & Cupcakes

They had practiced together for more than 25 years, so I wanted to make something special that reflected his love of golf and medicine. My inspiration came from Nancy’s Cakes and Beyond’s lovely cake she made a few months ago. I made the argyle pattern on the top tier by cutting out individual diamond shapes, and putting them together using Jessica’s wax paper transfer method. It worked amazing. Everything is edible except for a few toothpick and the candle. This is the first time I have taken a picture outside. Boy, it makes a world of difference!! Thank you for looking!

The theme was superheroes. Each cupcake has 20 different tags, with the teacher’s super powers! This is the first cake of three I have this week. I have never made more than one cake in a week, because babysitting three grandchildren all under the age of 4 keep me busy enough!! Wish me luck!!

Grandson's First Birthday and First Time Making a Figure

It was my first time making a figure. The monkey topper and number 1 made from fondant and gumpaste. I think he turned out pretty cute, but I also think I need a lot more practice. Thank you Diane, BellaCakes & Confections for your monkey cupcake inspiration. Yours were way cuter. My daughter did not want my grandson to have any cake (they are into healthy eating), so I carved his name into a watermelon, hollowed out the top, and filled it with an assortment of chopped fruit. He had his own little fruit bowl to squish into. Not the same as cake, but he seemed to love it all the same! The guests had their choice of chocolate cupcakes, or carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Cupcakes topped with fondant monkey faces, bananas, and leaves. Thank you so much for looking

You can see her amazing cake here: http://cakecentral.com/g/i/1710051/ I made my own version of her award winning Birdhouse Garden cake with fall flowers for my very first wedding. It was a lot of work, but I was so pleased with how it turned out, and so was the bride. It was also my first time making wired flowers, and first time using petal dust. I was amazed how much it added to making the flowers so realistic. There were also 108 cupcakes, 3 doz of three different flavors, and each had their own little topper. Thank you for looking!

I glued a green styrofoam bowl to a planter, with a hot glue gun, then glued 21 green paper cups that were cut down to a size that would hold the cupcakes. After decorating the cupcakes, they are easily slipped into the paper cups. This arrangement holds 21 full size cupcakes. I hope the teachers like it!

French vanilla cake with whipped chocolate ganache filling. Covered in marshmallow fondant. The cupcakes are dark chocolate with buttercream frosting. I was inspired by Peggy Does Cake’s (isn’t everyone) flower border on her unicorn cake. I also used Royal Bakery’s tutorial to make the little flower pot. Thanks Lesley! Spring letters cut out with exacto knife, and the robin, nest, and egg cut out with my cricut cake. Thanks for looking!

Gender Reveal Cake & Cupcake Tower

I made this cake for a gender reveal baby shower, but wanted to do something different than have a pink or blue cake to cut into. The gumpaste & fondant topper box was hollow, and when the fondant (tissue paper) was removed, the matching shoe was inside. It was a girl! The 10” round cake was chocolate with orange buttercream filling, and covered in MM fondant. The cupcakes were carrot cake with cream cheese icing. This was such a fun cake to make because I got to play with some of my new “toys”. I used my First Impressions baby mold, and my new cricut cake. The shower had a Valentine theme, so I put quite a few hearts on it! The baby shoes were also so fun to make.

I made this cake January 14, 2011 for my daughter’s nature themed baby shower. I made the crib and quilt to match the one she has in the baby’s nursery. The “family tree” was made to match the tree mural she had painted in the nursery, and the cake matched the wall border with dragonflies and leaves. Each cupcake had a gumpaste dragonfly, leaf, or butterfly. The crib, tree & nest were made from gumpaste.
