I just saw a video from Verusca Walker about making molds out of leftover fondant that was so interesting I thought I’d share it with you. You can see the actual video through YouTube.
Take all of your leftover fondant from previous cakes and mix them together until you have a pliable piece – you will probably end up with a grayish or taupy color; add a generous amount of Tylose because you want the mold to harden rock solid. Once you have thoroughly mixed the Tylose into th...

I decided to create this very easy and simple tutorial to demonstrate an easier way (at least for me) of creating this flower rather than doing the petal by petal process and the outcome is just as stunning. Enjoy!

I absolutely love girly bows. Ever since my daughter had long enough hair to be put back, I felt the need to have a matching bow or hair accessory for each outfit she’d wear. Gymboree bows were definitely a staple:) I really wanted to make a bow out of fondant that looked just like one of those fun adorable bows. Here is a tutorial on how to make a double bow. You can add more layers of loops and ribbon or even cute decorative accents.
To start, I use rolled up wax paper cut into d...

As I was getting ready to make some cacti for a southwestern cake, I realized that I didn’t have a cactus cutter. No worries… I downloaded a picture from clip art, printed it and made a template. The first cactus was just too plain, so I decided to add some texture by using a non-slip shelf cover – the type used to put underneath cakes so they won’t move around – the mat has a great texture, which brought life to my cactus.
I rolled out the gumpaste on the t...

I came across a most adorable bow online that had the cutest little hot pink owl, and I knew that I had to make it out of fondant:) So here is a pictorial that I put together on how I made her.
I am working on putting together a tutorial of the girly bow that I made with the little owl on top.
Thanks!
