Make FAST Alphabet Blocks

77 days ago by Fernanda Abarca | 10 comments »

Hi all !!! Here is a quick little tutorial on an easy and fast way to make Alphabet ( or any other type) of blocks. It’s fast and you don’t have to worry about things drying and you save on fondant. Be sure to use shortening for glue and NOT vodka. As any water or vodka dissolves the sugar cubes completely. The font is so hard to see because I put this together on my iphone. So here are the instructions in case you can’t read it. 1. Buy some sugar cubes in the s...

Easy Monogram Template Tutorial

190 days ago by cupadeecakes | 10 comments »

Monograms have been a big trend with wedding cakes now for a couple of years. I do at least one or two monograms a month. I have several different methods I use, but this will be my new “easy monogram” method. And I must confess that I been obsessed with Pinterest lately, so I asked my hubby to help me make my tutorial “Pinterest Friendly”. Tutorial - Brush Embroidery

63 days ago by TashasTastyTreats | 10 comments »

What is Brush Embroidery? It is a decorative technique used in sugar craft art. A paintbrush is stroked through royal icing leaving behind brush strokes which resemble stitching in fabric. It looks so beautiful and effective and it is not overly time consuming, what could be better! How can I use this technique?2D and 3D flowers, 2D animals and objects, ocean wave tips, fur (e.g. adding texture in a structured way) and as an outline/border. These images could be put on, for example ca...

Purple Perfection Peony

9 days ago by Bobbie | 10 comments »

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers, we have had them adorn our landscaping for almost 22 years; I remember planting our first peony plant with Sydney (she was almost two) and it just happened to be Mother’s Day. As I was covering the the second cake Sydney came through the door ready for 10 days of fun (she is spending the summer in DC). I had originally created the Peony cake topper as another cake, in a long line, of 21 birthday cakes for her to choose...

Elf on the Shelf cake topper tutorial

161 days ago by MyCakeFairyDotCom | 10 comments »

My household is obsessed with The Elf on the Shelf this time of year so I had to turn the little guy into a cake topper. I took some photos along the way! I have several homemade face molds from my daughter’s dolls. I thought this Lemon Meringue one was around the right size and shape. You simply make the face mold by impressing the doll face in gumpaste and allowing it to dry hard. You can then use it as a mold. Here I’ve pressed a flesh tone ball of fondant/gumpast...
