This is a pillow cake for a 50th birthday. The shoe is made of fondant/gumpaste and completely edible. We two-toned the fondant with purple on the bottom and biege on top with white royal accents. 10 inch and 6 inch tiers are of yellow cake and filled with chocolate mousse and oreo cookie crumbs. The pans were the newest in the Wilton line and simply great to use. We were so impressed that we can’t wait till we need to make another. Here is a brief showcasing of what we did an...
Hello, I finally finished my daffodil tutorial (my first tutorial, so please let me know where you think I might improve):http://clearlycake.com/blog/making-sugar-flowers-daffodils/ Thanks :) Centres for the Daffodils: Cut a 20 gauge green florist wire in half.Colour some Flowerpaste (I use Squires Kitchen own-brand) with Sugarflair Melon food paste (or a yellow food paste of your choice). Take a bit of the coloured Flowerpaste and roll it on to the wire into a thin sausage sha...
Time management is a key ingredient to cake decorating success. I have found a way to work ahead. Recently, I used this method and was able to complete 3 cakes, all with detailed fondant accents, in just a few hours. (all the fondant work was completed ahead of time) All I had to do was ice my cakes, and place the completed, shaped fondant on the cakes. This method kept the fondant flexible. I was able to fit the fondant decorations, to several cakes into one plastic 12 X 12 case. The 12 X 12...
This is our first attempt at an iconic character. We were pretty happy with the results! We couldn’t find any help on line, so this is how we made our goofy. We hope it can help! First always make your colors in estimated sizes so that you have it ready when you need it. Stopping to make a color can really slow up your progress and take up a lot of time. Just keep in ziploc as you work. Make 3 balls out of the blue. This will end up the body and the two legs. Roll t...
Now I must apologize, this was a very last minute decision to make a tutorial as I was working. So the pictures arent the best but I hope they help someone! Ive been needing to make another tutorial for so long, especially when my page hit 10,000 likers….so yeah, abit late! But hopefully something is better than nothing! Here is a very quick owl cupcake topper using only circle cutters! There are so many ways of making this your own…just bigger/smaller eyes, placement of the ...
I received a lot of interest in this cake board for my latest cake which had a boot on it and so have put together a few pictures I took during the process. 1. Roll out fondant onto board. Mix the fondant to the lightest shade of the stone and add bits of darker shades, roughly moulded in to the paste (I use fairly old fondant mixed with tylose to avoid ripping of the fondant at this stage and also mix bits of old and dry fondant in to create more of an ‘outdoor’ look!) ...
Another cute tutorial for Easter TimeText in english on my page in facebook: www.facebook.co,/sweetk.cakedesign Happy Easter!! :)
In March I made my youngest daughter Jasmine, a very special little guy to sit on both her ‘at home’ family cake and then her special ‘party’ cake later in the week. Elmo rules her world, or should I say MoMo! At the Christmas parade in our main street the only man in red she was interested in was Elmo, as you can imagine, Santa was devastated and I have heard he is seeking professional counselling :( However, I digress, so Elmo HAD to be on her birthday cake! Now those of you who are Mums...
How to make a 3D World Cake . I bake my cake on the shape of a ball. Ganache it to join to sides together and to correct imperfection this also will give more strength to your ball. I always open my fondant bigger than the size I need, special for a round shape. and I smooth it with a piece of fondant. I google search my image “world map”.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b5/GURPS_Reign_of_Steel_world_map.pngI cut my conutries and useit as template to cut my fondant....
