Need ideas for a gender reveal cake?

I will be attempting my first cake this weekend! Along with 4 dozen cupcakes for my gender reveal party on Saturday. I’m really excited! Any tips? I found a great tutorial for frosting cupcakes, and I’m trying to get some ideas for the cake. It will be a two layer 8in round marble with blue buttercream icing in the center and frosted with chocolate buttercream. I’m not sure what else to do though. I want it to look nice, but nothing too intense since it’s my first cake :) I’m thinking a border around the top and bottom, but not sure which would be the best for this cake. I would like something simple. Any ideas or advice?

What is a gender reveal party????

Just a fun way to announce the gender of the baby :)

I have done cakes for two gender reveal parties, and they are so much fun to make. Are you going to be using fondant for making decorations? Maybe you could do a pink and blue bow on top, and do some pink and blue polka dots on the cake. Do you have any little circle cutters? If not, you can always use a piping tip to make little circles. I’m excited to see what you come up with.

Awwww that’s so cute!!! How about some blue and pink baby bottles?
I don’t know if you can get cutters for that, or pacifiers/ diapers??
Sorry that’s all I could think of lol!! Hope it goes well for you xx

I’ve asked around for you and people have suggested bows, baby blocks
and baby footprints. Any other ideas and i will get back to you : )

I plan on using buttercream icing to decorate. I’ve never done fondant before, and don’t have time to practice, so I figure it’ll be easiest and turn out best if I just use the icing.

You could make a topper that has a baby blanket (pink and blue) and a pair of booties – one pink and one blue.
