Topic tags/keywords: advice how-to tip idea tutorial resource

HELP… I’ve been asked to do a Max & Ruby cake and I can’t find any tutorials to make the little rabbits look like themselves – I’m having a bit of trouble getting their faces just right – has anybody done one of these cakes before that can give me some hints… I’m running out of time and I don’t want to purchase a plastic topper – :)))))

Have you talked to Way beyond cakes by Mayen? She sis a max and Ruby cake. If you send her a message on here or on her FB page She is really good about answering questions! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=311912872330&set=a.246539217330.147020.205059342330&type=3&theater

I know I’m a little late on this but I have done a Max and Ruby cake in the past. For the figures I just cut them out of fondant and piped them with royal icing. It’s an easy way around it if you don’t have much sculpting experience like me and it still looks really great on the cake :)

Thank you so much – I decided to do the figures in gumpaste looking at a coloring book – I’m having fun creating this cake…

I struggled with the faces too. I ended up making an heart shaped head with the ears attached and then a round nose/muzzle. I worked with homemade marshmallow fondant, and will post a picture as soon as able.

This was the final product – the mom loved the cake – I made it checkered as a surprise! It turned out really cute!

Awesome! I love all the details! I know you said the bunnies were gumpaste, was everything else? I love making checkerboard cakes! I’ve made my share of those. My max and ruby cake was golden vanilla rainbow.
(this is the one I did recently)
( and these are the cupcakes)

Thank you – all the little details were also gumpaste – The picture doesn’t show it well, but in person it was really cute. You also did a very nice job – your bunnies are great!!
