Cake Disasters

Can one Cake have to many themes?

Hi everyone looking for some advice one an upcoming cake design. I have been asked by a sweet 5 year old to make a cake with My Little Pony’s, Ariel, Hot Pink, Zebra stripes and Cheetah Print. I have drawn up 3 or 4 cake designs and its just so busy nothing is really flowing together. Im at a lose. I think I could make the ariel and my little ony themes work together but how do you work in the hot pink animal theme without it being a total disaster design. ANY, advice would help at this point.

Is it going to be 2 layers at least? You could do one layer zebra and My Little Pony and the other one cheetah and Ariel. OR.. do one of those half and half cakes like the wedding and grooms cake in one.

Yes Karen it is going to be two Tiers I could even throw a third tier (4 inch round.) Those are really great ideas. I hadn’t thought to put the animal print in with the character themes. Thanks for responding. Im just afraid the HOT Pink will throw of the colors.

I have confidence you will make it look beautiful! Maybe you could tone down the hot pink on one layer…Just go with it..the little girl will LOVE it no matter what seeing all her favorite things on it!!

oh my gosh thank you so much, your so kind! I guess you right it probably wont be my best design but as long as all the things she loves is on it and shes happy, that’s all that should matter! Thank you for reminding me of that! ;-)

Don’t you know we are our own worst critics? I have to remind myself all the time that the person receiving the cake will not look at it like I do and they will be excited!! It will work out, you’ll see! :)

If you are having trouble incorporating the hot pink, could you maybe do a zebra stripe using the hot pink instead of the more realistic black and white. You could even do the cheetah print using the hot pink. I know whatever you come up with will be amazing!!
