Hi, I aspire to become a cake decorater and I was hoping if some of you could suggest me decorating classes in metro detroit area.

Well i would recommend the wilton classes to start… that is how I did it. It was a nice way to get the basics and they are pretty local.. most A.C Moore and Michaels have the classes.

Then I would start looking for more specific techniques you want to learn. At least that is how i have been doing it :) Just my opinion

That’s great advice; always smart to start with the basics. After that, check around and see if there’s a decorating club near you. I bet Google would know! There are lots of decorating DVDs and even a huge amount of free tutorials on YouTube. Also check out Craftsy.com.

There are several ways you can improve your skills- YouTube provides free access to many tutorials, CakesDecor also provides great tutorials contributed by our family of bakers and I use three teaching websites that will help greatly. Mycakeschool.com, My Style TV and Craftsy all provide great tutorials that will help you improve your skills. However, I would start with the basics – Wilton offers three courses that build on each other. Michael’s always has classes available – most of the time at 50% off. Best always and we’re all here to help each other.

Get the very best most detailed dvds on the market from SugarEdProductions.com. You can literally put all your supplies on the counter, start the dvd and work with Sharon from start to finish on all the cakes she makes in her series. There’s no “starting one technique, spin the cake and its done” we are talking every single thing you need.
