"The Mat" from sweetwise?

Just wondering if any fellow cakers have used “the Mat” from sweetwise? And if so what you thought of it. I have just ordered one and I am really excited. Also if anyone that has used it has any advice feel free to pass it along! Thanks

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I use to use the wilton mat and it sucked cause you could never see the other side of the fondant.. and i never did the rolling out on the counter unless it is small pieces but with the mat I like it cause it is sooo easy (once you get the hang of it) to roll out the fondant fast and then you can flip it to see which side is smoother and the one you want for the top! I will never use another kinda mat again! I will be ordering more in the future for sure from them!

I have it and use it for big coverings. It works great. Just make sure you season it like the video shows and youll be all set.

Save, yourself some money!!!! Go to Joann fabrics or any fabric store and get 12g shower liner, the clear plastic one. when you get home tag your sides so when you start to use it you know the inside from outside. Take a paper towel and some crisco and rub it all over and then wipe off WALA it works so good!!!!.

But can you use that on food Lisa?? I thought it had to be food grade because of toxins or something…?

The Mat is so inexpensive in my opinion and most importantly it is made with food safe ingredients. The chemicals that are used to make shower liners and other vinyl products are very toxic.

I got this tip on Way beyond cakes I’m sure they would know that. I will have to check it out. I’ve only used it once and it did work great. Will check into it. :)

I think I payed 18 dollars for it which isn’t bad at all. They do mention in the video that other vinyls are toxic so just watch out Lisa, I wouldn’t want you to get sick or anything.

I got it a few months ago and I also LOVE IT!!!!! will never use anything ever again. I use to use the wilton rolling pin and mat. Never again. I also got the Silpin rolling pin and that made life so easy.

I used to struggle to get the fondant thin enough but with the new silpin rolling pin and The Mat it takes me no time at all the roll it and get it the thickness I want.

But like SweetBee said don’t forget to season it before the first use. You only have to do it the first time.
I hope you enjoy it and it makes you life easier

Jennifer can you get the Silpin in stores or do you have to order it online? And what is the difference between the two pins?
I am hoping it makes life easier too. I can always use things that do that!
