Topic tags/keywords: advice question tip Do you think that a Kitchen Aid mixer is necessary for a beginning bakery. I have to purchase a stand mixer and want to purchase one that I truly need. Thanks. |

I don’t think it HAS to be a Kitchen Aid but I HIGHLY recommend investing in a standing mixer! I couldn’t live without mine (though, it is a kitchen aid which I got on sale for around $200 at khols). Its a must for making some things like buttercreams or doughs.. Well worth it. -- Nikki, So Cal, www.Facebook.com/nikkibelleperchecakes |

I would have to agree with Nikki. I went for a long time without a stand mixer. What threw me over the edge was trying to mix gingerbread cookie dough by hand. I bought the mixer and have never looked back. It just makes something’s so much easier. -- Jennifer, https://www.facebook.com/PrimacakesPlus |

I have to TOTALLY agree, I purchased a smaller Kitchen Aid when I started making cakes almost 3 years ago, and I LOVE it. I since have purchased a bigger one and couldn’t imagine working without them. Its a VERY good investment. -- Rosita, Florida, https://www.facebook.com/cakesbyrosa05 |

One note on purchasing KitchenAid mixers at discount stores such as Kohl’s (no criticism, it’s one of my favorite shops!) – sometimes the appliance models they carry are not the same as at other stores. Do your homework online before you shop; know what you want ahead of time. If it’s a special deal, be sure to look carefully at the model number to be sure it’s what you are looking for. Best of luck! |

I agree with all the others I LOVE my KA and I don’t know what I would do with out my stand mixer. I tried to make swiss meringue buttercream with a hand mixer (because I was at my fathers house without my precious KA) and it was a NIGHTMARE! It took me probably about an hour to make one batch of icing, and I am pretty sure I almost burnt out the motor in their hand mixer. I love that I can stick things in my mixer and walk away and get other things done while I am waiting, like tidy up my work space etc. -- Tara, Nova Scotia, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Valleys-kool-cakes/131353476890032 |
