Watercolor with gold?
Is this a water color cake? It doesn’t look like any of the ones ive seen before… was it done with buttercream or hand painted? Was the gold hand painted on? any advice? Ive never done this type of cake before.

To me it looks like it was hand painted. Certainly the gold was painted on.

Yes, it was either painted or airbrushed. As the previous reply mentions, the gold is certainly painted. I do watercolor cakes like this pretty often with edible art paints. You thin them out with alcohol to get the thin watercolor consistency. They can be used on buttercream which is what most of my brides prefer.
