heatwave nightmare

hi everyone … I am in dire straights … I have made a cake for a wedding and used buttercream for the top tier as normal … however the temperature has risen to 25.5 in my home and it has started to bubble under the fondant … I have a ring of hand made flowers between the tiers some of which are attached to the base of the top tier … I cannot open the door or window for fear of beasties getting in … I am at a loss to know what to do … any advice?

Hi Alicia! I’m so sorry to here your have a heat problem! I wonder do you have a dehumidifier in your house anywhere? I cannot stress enough how amazing they are!! I have a powerful one running in my cake room 24hrs a day. We have had very hot weather here too and the room stays completely cool and keeps any cakes completely dry and sets fondant, chocolate and buttercream perfectly. I have flowers and display cakes that stay perfect and never wilt. I really couldn’t be without one. I used to use small dehumidifiers and they did exactly the same job but they would only work for about a year and then break down. I would recommend a bigger one because they are more powerful and last forever!
I run mine all through the winter also because if there is any dampness in the air this can cause problems too.
I really hope this helps you for future cakes! :-) x
