How to stand out?

I live in a really small town. Everyone in this town and their cousins counsins “makes” cakes. People in this location do not buy the cakes because they are of a high quality but because they know them instead. I want to open my own shop but I don’t know how to stand out and make people come to me for my talent and not connections.
