Cake Decorating Business

Freelance Cake Artist

Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum and so excited to have found it, everyone seems so talented and gracious! I have a quick question and would greatly appreciate your insight……I am in the wedding industry and have many clients who struggle with their cake from finding best product to getting exactly what they want. I’m considering adding a kitchen and space for a decorator but wouldn’t need someone full time. Do you think it would be feasible to create a network of skilled decorators willing to work on a per job/project basis in our kitchen? Also what would be the best way to acknowledge their artistic talent while branding the business? Thank you for reading my lengthy “one question”

Hi Kristy… I will attack this question from a different angle.
As a decorator in Australia, this would possibly be a great solution for someone like myself. I would like to do only 1 or 2 orders per month, but the cost of meeting legal requirements such as registration, insurances and other issues, make it an un-viable option for me currently.
Legal requirements will vary from country to country…I do not know where you live.
Another big factor you may need to consider, would your decorators be employees or be contractors? In Australia, this would be determined by certain criteria… and would be important in deciding legal liability, insurances and the right to claim debts etc.
Good luck with your endeavours. Julez.
