Cake Decorating

How do you become part of a collaboration?

Hi everyone!!
I’m fairly new to the cake decorating business and I have been seeing a lot of cake collaborations recently.
My question is, how do you become a part of one? I’d love to work towards one and push myself to do something new.
Wishing you all a great weekend xxx

Hi
You normally get asked by the person who is arranging it :)
Hope you get asked soon x

Hi Julia,

I am new too at this business and it would be a honour to take part at one. But you must be asked by somebody who is arranging one.

You can always come up with an idea and start your own collaboration. Ask people whose work you admire to join you. You don’t have to wait to be asked and don’t feel like your work is not good enough. Collaborations are generally made up from all different skill levels. You just bring what you can and it will be great.

On cake page circle we have collaborations. Search for us if you are not already in the group.

As Jennifer has mentioned, you could start your own.
Apart from that, they are generally by invitation. I have checked out your page… and the standard of your work is very good. I couldn’t help but notice, that until today, you haven’t taken time to interact with other cakers or comment on their work.
If you check out a lot of the collabs, you will notice that there is a lot of “caking community” people included. People that are connected to others, not only by their standard of work, but by friendship and respect.
CakesDecor is an amazing place where there is always opportunity to interact, help/ask for help… and generally get to know other cakers at all levels.
Good luck for the future! xxx

That you all for your suggestions, I will try and find the group.
Until recently I wasn’t really sure how Cakes Decor worked and just seemed to use social media such as Facebook and Instagram as interaction. But now I know what it’s all about I will certainly become more involved and take time to view everyone’s fantastic cakes.
Thank you all for taking the time to respond to me. Wishing you all luck xxx
