Photo Disappointment

Hi CD friends. I want to check that this happens to other people too.

This morning a took some photos of a gumpaste figure of a cat on a motorcycle helmet (yeah, wierd I know, but I like weird) :-D I was pleased with the model so I took some nice close-ups. Oh dear, when I saw the pics on my pc screen I could see so many flaws; cracks, flecks of fluff, nasty dints in the gumpaste that I felt so deflated. I had to delete the photos because if I looked at them any longer I would have been tempted to throw away the model which had taken me hours to make.

To the naked eye the model looks fine (well, my naked eye, anyway) but blown up big – not so good.

Tell me this happens to you too ………..please……… :-) x

I want to write more but I am so tired… All i can say right now isstop looking at the flaws, use softer lighting etc

Sweetheart I can guarantee nobody else would have noticed everything you do – I still remember your spiderman cake and your comments on his thighs lol – I thought he was cute! But yes hard light is very unforgiving and the fact it looks better in person shows the light has just caught a less flattering angle. Don’t worry please x

All the time! When I take my photos I try not to zoom in, so I don’t see the flaws :)

Absolutely agree. I think non-cake makers wonder what I’m talking about but I always see my flaws!

Glad I’m not alone :-D
I think the fact that this little cat was mainly black didn’t help. After I deleted, I stepped back and took some from more of a distance. I didn’t want the helmet in the shot originally so that was the real reason for the closer pics I tried. xXx

I do too – you can’t really help that I’m afraid :-(

What I do, if I have to, is edit the fluffy bits out using picmonkey – it’s amazing, and really simple to do. xx
