Introduce Yourself

Selma ~ Little Apple Cakes

I have read some stories on here and I will try to be as interesting as everyone, but it will probably end up with everyone snoring in the end…

My name is Selma, mommy of one little girl Apple-Marie (that is how I got my cake name Little Apple Cakes).
Now it gets a bit confusing, I was born in Bosnia/Croatia and lived there until I was 16 years old (after the whole war things started) and my family ended up in Sweden as refugees. I see Sweden as my home (I lived there for 16 years too) and my family still lives there.

I met my husband 5 years ago and that is how I ended up living in North Carolina. My first trip to Michaels got me all hooked on cake decorating and I decided to make my first birthday cake for my mother-in-law lovely Momma June.

Trough cakes I have met some amazing, wonderful, strong and hard working women, I’m always amazed how we all have a different “life story” and how we can get to know people, without even meeting them in person and become great friends.

I started doing cakes 2 years ago but had to take a break for 10 months after my daughter was born.
Before I discovered cake, my big passion was cross stitching, decoupage and just basic DIY crafts. I’m proud to say I made most of the things for my daughters nursery and I will share some of the photos with you instead of more cake photos :)

I’m so happy to have met you all, you are a big inspiration, I love how we all teach each other,
and at the same time learn from each other too.

Hi Selma, I’m already fan of your fantastic work, so it’s very nice to hear more about you

Selma, wow, so much I just learned… I’ve been though war too and I know exactly how it feels. And it’s odd how we feel our “second” country like home,, in your case Sweden, and now you have the US as well… I consider the US my “home” even though I am not there now. Michael’s, tell me about it, I am so jealous of you!!!
