Sometimes having more followers means that you are more popular. To be more popular you can try to:

  • answer the questions asked by our members in the forums
  • posting tutorials could help you to get more attention
  • post positive feedback to cakes you like!

Hi Sammi…. I agree with everything Michal said.
Also be aware CakesDecor is not like FB. Most of the people here are probably cakers themselves, so are assessing from a different perspective.
I think the important thing is to be happy in yourself, with what you have achieved. Gain inspiration from others. Like all of us, it is a continual road of improvement… caking is evolving, and the standard is getting higher all the time.
One big lesson I have learnt in the past 12 months… you can spend a lot of time making a special cake. Take an extra 1/2 hour to photograph and present your finished creation. It can make a big difference to how it is perceived.
Good luck… hope this helps.

Agree with all that Michal & Julez have said. Just continue to follow others, and show an interest in the decorators posts…either cake or blog. The more you follow, the more will reciprocate. Just like any community, it takes time to establish yourself, and for you to get to know others, and others to get to know you..

Thanks everyone. I have just been diving head first into cake and want more people in my world to talk about it with. I agree about the photo stuff. Trying to get some cash together so i can make some cake stands and back ground. I just want everything to be together now! Lol thanks for the follows! And the advice.

I have been using cheap rolls of paper for background, and natural lighting… although I am lucky enough to have a decent camera. There are some good tutorials for photographing food. Some free, although I don’t know if I’d be able to find them now. I also bought an ebook for about $20… (Having said all that, I still have a lot to learn).

I forgot to mention the most important thing: the better cakes you do, the more followers you have :)
