Hello to all the MN bakers out there! I am posting about the MN Cottage Food Law that is out there trying to get passed. Here is the information about it:
I, petition my Minnesota state legislators to enact a Cottage Foods bill authorizing the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to issue customized Home Bakery licenses/permissions to residential kitchens for the purpose of selling non-potentially-hazardous bakery products, such as, but not limited to: breads, cakes, doughnuts, pastries, buns, rolls, cookies, biscuits, and pies (except meat or cream pies).
This law will help create employment opportunities for state residents. It is acknowledged that the cottage food laws may require food processors to pay a license and/or permit fee. It is this licensing requirement that could bring in money for the entire state or partially pay for any cost incurred for additional regulatory program operations. This law will also allow small commercial bakery owners to operate from a home-based location should their business revenues start to decline due to changes in the economy.
If you are in MN and believe in this law being passed, PLEASE sign the petition. Here is the website to sign it: http://www.petitiononline.com/petitions/mncake/signatures
You can sign your name along with city/county and post a comment to our MN law makers. Otherwise, just sign your name if you don’t want to say where you live. Either way-the more signatures we have the better. We have 2306 right now, but need at least 500 or more for this law to pass. Feel free to email this out to your friends and family. You can also join the Facebook group for support.

Thanks for all your support! Many other states have passed this law and MN should get on board, too! We deserve the right to sell our baked goods at home (cakes of course) and make money for our families!
