I am wanting to make my own molds in the most inexpensive way. I have heard of using “EasyMold Silicone Putty” from Michaels, but it is not available at my Michaels. Also, someone said in a review of said product that they would recommend “Amazing Mold Putty” over EasyMold.

Have any of you used either one of these products? Do any of you have a better but still inexpensive suggestion? Thank you.

Hi ya,

I use a product called silicone plastique and it’s great!! Not sure which outlet would sell it as bought it at a cake show, but you can probably source it on-line….

I heard of people using Craft Easymold Silicone Putty, I too was wanting to try and make my own molds. I already live somewhere that all our cake supplies have to be bought online and the shipping/cost can be insane. I still wanting to double check to see if this was actually ok (food safe) to use but I thought I would throw that out there and see if it helps you. I know you can get it at Michael’s also, but here is a link to it on Amazon.

there’s a tutorial on cake central.com about making your own silicone lace molds for cakes, so I’m sure you can apply the techniques and products to whatever it is you’re wanting to make a mold of. good luck!

Hi Ladies! Just wanted to update you. Then only thing I could get my hands on locally was the “Amazing Mold Putty” from Hobby Lobby. I made a mold today and it was so amazingly easy and so fun! It was $19 but I used a 40% off coupon, so it wasn’t too expensive. Thanks for all your advice, girls.

Can’t wait to see what you made with it Sarah! I’m going to order some of the putty next time I place a Amazon order. There is a website that makes alot of silcone molds, not etsy although I have seen some affordable ones on there. I have it linked on the forums on my online shops topic they appear to be cheaper and have a nice selection but I havent ordered from them yet.
