Another Shoe Question...

OK, So I’ve actually looked at EVERY single post on shoe templates, even good, and did Pintrest even instagramed and asked questions left and right, North and South and I can’t seem to get any REAL answers. So I turn to my trust Cakes Decor family.

I’m looking to make a shoe like this one… go take a look… but I need a template of a closed toe platform. Any help??

There is 2 layers, The zebra print and the hot pink. I’m like 80% sure how I’d get this done or “mashed” together I should say. I guess that questions comes later(?) But for now I’d really just like the template to get things started.

Now correct me if I’m wrong but those spikes should be done with fondant/gum paste, one by one? I’m not looking forward to that step but I’d prefer that over pipping. I don’t have the steadiest hand in the land.

Thanks so much for ALL your help. I REALLY appreciate it.

Happy New Years to all!

Hi. To do that zebra pattern, stretch out white paste, cut pieces of black and silver and put on top of the white, then just go with the roll over. I also would spikes in fondant and then glued one by one.
Al I leave a link to a sample. Hope this helps.

Hi Frankiev, I found a nice template that I think you could use to make this shoe, you would definitely have to adjust it a bit for your type of shoe (because of the platform part) but I think it can be a big help for you.
When it comes to making the whole shoe from one cut, especially with 2 different colors of fondant maybe a good thing is to split the zebra part in two, make the toe and sole part first with white fondant and then the top part that goes around the heel and down the foot. Join them in the middle and you can hide that join with painted zebra pattern. By then you will probably know how the pink part should be shaped and can make that with only one cut, join them at the heel part and adjust. Hope this help, keep us posted : ) S.

OMG! I’ve been wanting to make this same pair of shoes in sugar for some time now. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Iris Rezoagli of Cake Dreams by Iris but she makes very nice realistic gum paste shoes. They literally look like you can stick your feet in them and walk away, lol. Anyway, she recently released a DVD showing how she makes her shoes. It’s a little pricey at $44.99US but it’s very informative and it comes with templates and I believe it includes a template for closed platform shoes. Iris also released a book of various templates you can buy to make other styles of shoes and I think it’s $19.99US. You can buy the DVD and template book from http://www.sugardelites.com/ or directly from Iris’s Etsy page https://www.etsy.com/shop/cakedreamsbyiris. Iris is a member of Cakes Decor and you can check out her work here: http://cakesdecor.com/IrvachagaG1/cakes. I hope that was helpful and good luck with your shoe! :-)
