This train cake was for a little boy’s 1st birthday :) All buttercream with a gum paste train and fondant / royal icing bunting on the bottom tier.

I usually try to avoid making character cakes, but this was for a friend of mine’s little boy whom I couldn’t say no to :) All buttercream with fondant details.

Just a simple wedding cake for a sweet little couple.

I made this cake for a photographer’s pirate-themed photo shoot for a little boy’s first birthday :)

The bottom tier is buttercream covered in graham cracker crumbs, with a fondant treasure map. Top tier is simply buttercream, and the pirate ship is made out of chocolate.

The Beatles!! The British flag is made of modeling chocolate. The top tier is to represent John Lennon’s famous white suit and the Abbey Road album, all sitting on a “record” cake board.

The birthday girl requested that her cake “reflect her personality”. When asked to tell me a little bit about herself, she sent me an email about a mile long detailing every single thing on earth that she likes! So I narrowed it down to her “absolute most favorite” things ~ pink, black, ruffles, peonies, shoes, photography, music, and the bible. She had a hard time deciding if she wanted one large cake or mini cakes, so I did both. I probably spent more time talking to her about her cakes than I did actually making them, but it was so much fun getting to know her :)

Buttercream cake and smash cake with modeling chocolate monsters. I was asked to use the child’s favorite sippy cup as my inspiration, so I designed the cake by using the cup’s colors and replicated the monsters. Inspiration can come from all sources, that’s for sure!

A birthday cake for a little girl who loves Ariana Grande’s song “Put Your Hearts Up”. The lyrics are piped around the cake with royal icing.
