I own and operate a small made to order cake and treat business. I love challenges which there is no short supply of in this art. I do believe it is art. You need love for what you do and want people to enjoy your craft. If you don't have that , then it is a job. I started self taught from books. I was lucky to have my first classroom experience with a great group of women taught by Colette Peters. I am in a small town a 45 minute drive one way from being able to take other classes, so it was not practical, not with a full time 50hr week job. I loved the days we got to spend togethor and learned from everyone in that room. Then Craftsy came to my rescue and I am a huge advocate. This forum gave me the opportunity to grow so much. I have joined several online communities "Cakes we Bake", "Cake Centeral" and now "Cakes Decor" because i am afraid i might miss something. so much talent in the world. so little time to see it all.
