re: How to airplane cake (urgent)

Hi, for strawberry flavour I use classic Victoria sponge recipe and when ready to pour in baking tin, I fold in chopped fresh strawberries rolled in a little flour. Then you can use strawberry jam for filling and strawberry essence to flavour your buttercream. Colour the buttercream pink for a more strawberry association feel. :)
You should cover your cake a day early and leave fondant to dry, so then you can paint the pattern on it. It will be easiest to cover back of plane with orange fondant and then paint with black, starting with more diluted colour and finishing with dense black. To make paint you can use black colour dust mixed with clear spirit or mixed with cocoa butter for a oil paint look.
