re: Top 3

Personally, I click on the ‘cakes’ tab when I sign on and go through and click on what I want to see. I also click on the ‘members’ tab to see what new members are here and what they have to offer, and lend any type of supporting comment I can. I also click on the ‘forums’ tab now to see if there is anything I could possibly help out with advice wise. Unfortunately a lot of great cakes/cakers go missed out on. Everyone who posts on here are at different levels and all of us are still learning as you never stop learning. Some have more time to dedicate to tutorials and practice cakes than others. Some are more advanced while some are just starting out. In the end though, we all love what we do. I don’t necessarily comment or look at a cake I see on here because I follow them on facebook. If I have already liked/commented on facebook I don’t always do it on here. I mostly try to comment on others photos who don’t get any comments via the silent cakes tab (which btw, I think is great Michal!). To post cakes and not have any positive feedback on something you worked very hard on is disheartening, especially when you feel like you did a good job. It doesn’t have to be the most beautiful cake in order for me to look or comment. Sometimes just a ‘nice job’ or ‘oh I love that color combo’ can make someones day. Everyone needs some encouragement. Elisa from Cakes By Elisa is by far one of the best cakers out there, and she is so incredibly encouraging. My work is nowhere near up to her standards, but she still encourages me. Knowing what that means to me, I’m sure others feel the same if they have a Peggy, Elisa or Leslie rooting them on. I have made the Top 3 twice…both times I was so freaking excited. I didn’t think my cakes didn’t belong up there (until your post in which I started second guessing whether my cakes deserved to be up there), I just thought how awesome is it that other cakers actually liked my cake. To me the customer liking the cake I make is most important. But it is nice once in awhile to see other cakers appreciate your work, even if their work may be ‘better’ in their eyes it doesn’t mean your cake isn’t worthy of being in the top 3. Just my opinion on the matter.
