This tutorial is the technique that I came up with that made it easier for me to make sure that I got straight even sides and a completely flat top every time I ganached a cake. The technique I came up with is kind of a mix of the upside down method that everyone knows about and the technique used by Faye Cahill where she uses two boards (one on top and one on bottom) to help ganache her cakes. it is for use with a 18×12 pan.. i use large cookie sheet with high edges.. this is the best chocolate cake i have ever had hands down. we have always called it brownie cake but it isn’t brownies.. ;) pioneer woman makes a good version of it and she puts buttermilk in hers so i used hers. it is awesome!

This cake is super moist and so easy to make! I can make this recipe and have a perfectly finished cake and a spotless kitchen in 90 minutes!! Feel free to substitute walnuts for pecans, either is excellent.

2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup orange juice or 1 cup apricot nectar
1 cup vegetable oil (canola works best)
