Flamboyant Mayflower Petal Cake

27 days ago by Bobbie | 3 comments »

While Sydney was home this past weekend, for a VERY short time, we visited the Botanical gardens. In many tropical parts of the world it is grown as an ornamental tree and in English it is given the name Royal Poinciana or Flamboyant. It seemed kismet to spot this…Read th...

Tutorial - Brush Embroidery

91 days ago by TashasTastyTreats | 10 comments »

What is Brush Embroidery? It is a decorative technique used in sugar craft art. A paintbrush is stroked through royal icing leaving behind brush strokes which resemble stitching in fabric. It looks so beautiful and effective and it is not overly time consuming, what could be better! How can I use this technique?2D and 3D flowers, 2D animals and objects, ocean wave tips, fur (e.g. adding texture in a structured way) and as an outline/border. These images could be put on, for example ca...

Frilled Easter Egg

98 days ago by Bobbie | 2 comments »

I was inspired to create a sugar cookie with frills from a Craftsy video and a beautiful fluted egg cookie cutter I purchased at Copper Gifts. The design is a collaboration between Sydney and myself, we wanted something different and frills seemed perfect. The fondant is a monochromatic pink-purple color as are the frilled wrapped roses. The sugar Cookie Recipe: 150 grams/ 1 cup confectioner’s sugar1 egg1 tsp flavoring, pick what you like, for these I chose cherry blossom (the ch...

“In your Easter Bonnet with all The Frills Upon it”

117 days ago by Bobbie | 3 comments »

I have had a love for Judy Garland since I was a little girl; my father introduced me to The Wizard of Oz when I was two. From that moment on, I watched every Judy Garland movie I could find. I still can recall the first time I saw Judy Garland and Fred Astaire dancing and singing to classics like “We’re a Couple Swells”, “Drum Crazy”, and of course “Easter Parade”. I introduced Sydney to Judy Garland and… Read the whole story »

Why cake decorating is hard work

142 days ago by KellieJ75 | 6 comments »

I was asked to do a cake for a girl freinds son who was graduating university. He is also in the police force so I was asked to do a round cake with a graduation cap and scroll on it. Easy peasy I thought, yeah, mother nature had other ideas. I normally bake my cakes and make my ganache 2 days before. So I did my normal ratio of ganache, 2 parts chocolate one part cream. Set it aside to harden slightly the night before. We were having hot and humid days and I didnt take this into accou...
