I made this cake for my son France who is celebrating his 21st Birthday. Wow…How the time flies. I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. I felt like the luckiest mummy in the world to have such a beautiful baby. Today, he is like most young men his age. He just loves money. Hence the crocodile skin briefcase stuffed with $100 dollars notes. (edible of course).

My friend is having a King and Queen themed party for her 50th. So all the women have to wear tiara’s, and all the men have to wear crowns.

So, since I uploaded the photo of this cake, disaster struck! The next 2 photos show the nightmare i woke up to, and how I saved the day. And I must say I love the second version much better.

I made this cake for a friend of mine, for her daughters !st birthday. When Aleisha first discovered that she was pregnant. She and everyone around her thought that she had the worst case of morning sickness. Spend the first few weeks going to the emergency department she was that ill. On her fourth visit in there they finally found out that she did not have morning sickness, but in fact that her kidneys had gone into failure. Straight onto dialysis 4 times a week, and her precious bundle was delivered by emergency C-section 2 months earlier. Aleisha is now waiting for a kidney transplant and little Lola is well, little. She still wears size double 00 clothes and is a very happy little girl, the apple of her parents eyes.

I made this cake as a wedding gift for our very good friends daughter, who is getting married tomorrow. We are looking for to a day and night out.

The making of this cake was one hell of a challenge. The temperature was 38/104 degrees, and the humidity was the worst that I have ever experienced. Making working with fondant an absolute nightmare. I had to do the top tiers fondant 3 times. It was only suppose to have a few hearts on it, but after I rang the bride-to-be to tell her of my troubles, we decided to cover the whole thing with hearts to hid the booboos.

I made this cake for my friends Granddaughters 10th birthday. She eat, breathes, sleeps basketball.

I made this cake as a favour for a friend, who didn’t have time to make it for a friend of hers. I have never met the bride, I only hope she likes it. I love it!

Made this cake for our friend Mark who is turning 50. He owns a rubbish skip business, so what better cake than a skip, complete with figurine of himself sitting on top of all the rubble, wearing his beloved sunglasses.

Vanilla buttercake brushed with Bundeberg Rum and filled with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Yummo Yummo.

I made this cake for the lady who takes my mother’s blood every week. Her mother was also recently diagnosed with cancer, so we thought this would be a lovely way to honour her.

I made this cake for my cousin’s little boy. I have made all of his birthday cakes. In fact, his 1st cake was the one that sent me on my cake decorating journey.

This is my step-daughters wedding cake, which is my version of a cake by CorriesCakes. Only the top tier is cake and the bottom two are dummy. Each guest received a cupcake that looked like a terracotta pot with a succulent in it. See my other post to check them out.

I made these for my step-daughters wedding. She and her bridesmaids carried succulents, and so it was fitting that each guest got a cake of they own. Many of the guests thought that they were real plants. LOL

Okay I have finally made a cake. It’s been 6 months since I have baked and decorated, so I am a little rusty. This cake is for my amazing Aunty Peg and Uncle John, who are celebrating their 65th Wedding. Anniversary. WOW…Isn’t that something? Congratulations to them both, and may they celebrate many more.

Made for a very special young man, who absolutely loves anything Scooby Doo.

I know I have said in the past, that the cakes that I post are special to me. But, this cake is the most special. It is for my amazing mother. She came to this country in 1957 with my late father from Indonesia, to start a new life together. They had four children, with me being the youngest. My mother is a dressmaker/ pattern maker and designer. She had her own little dress making shop in Wangaratta (That’s a small country town in Victoria), where I was born many moons ago. After my father past away 39 years ago, she was left to raise four kids on her own. It was difficult to make a living in such a small town, so we packed up and moved to the Big Smoke, Melbourne. She had many jobs working for lots of well known sportswear brands like Diadora, Exacto and Le Coq Sportif. At one stage she worked for Adidas for 8 years and even designed the Australian uniform for the Olympic games. She is an amazing woman! We are all so very happy that she has made it to this wonderful milestone, as she has been battling ovarian cancer for the last 2 years. I am extremely happy that I was able to create this cake for her, and I pray that she will be around for me to make her many more.

An all ivory wedding cake….One of the prettiest cakes I have made. Well I think so. LOL

This is ‘Diavlo’ from the Moshi Monsters. Please don’t ask me what they are…because I do not have a clue. But he is sort of cute.

I began making fondant covered cakes about 2 1/2 years ago, because of my niece Lucie. I nearly had a nervous breakdown making her 21st cake. I didn’t know the oven very well, so my cakes resembled volcano’s, coming to a peak and like lava on the inside. I probably baked about 10 cakes just to get a few to come out okay for human comsumption. LOL The buttercream was grainy and way too sweet. It was a real embarrassment, but Lucie loved it. I bought an oven thermometer and found out that it was like 100 degrees out. So know wonder I was creating Mount Vesuvius.
Anyway, 4 years on I have now had the honour of making her Engagement Cake. And just let me tell you. “I think that girl is cursed.” OMG…The bottom tier of this cakes ganache came away from the sides of the cake taking down the fondant with it!! I’m telling you, I am not looking forward to making the wedding cake. LOL
