They got engaged on the beach and will be married on the beach! So, of course, I went with the beach theme! Thank you to Victorious Cupcakes, Cute Little Cupcakes and Ali Bee’s Bake Shop for the design of the cupcakes. The cake is a 10” vanilla cake iced in buttercream with fondant decorations and the cupcakes are dark chocolate iced in sea blue buttercream with fondant toppers and white chocolate shells! Thank you for looking!

One Last Cake for my Dad

I had planned to make this cake for my Dad’s 84th birthday. Unfortunately he passed away a few days before. When I showed my sister-in-law a photo of the cake she convinced me to go ahead and make it as it was totally appropriate for his wake. I believe it was fate that I choose this cake. First I want to thank Toni (whitecrafty) for the wonderful design. Originally it was to have one dove at the top to represent my Mom that passed away almost 13 years ago. Now it has 2 doves, my Mom leading my Dad up to heaven. My brother that passed away last year is represented my the dove sitting in the tree. On the branches are my Dad’s 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. My 3 years old granddaughter always “helps” me make cakes. I give her some fondant and cutters and let her play. While I was working on the cake she came to me and handed me a lovely blue heart. She said “Nana I made this heart for Opa’s cake”. So in the last photo you will see Tillie’s heart to Opa. (Opa is german for grandfather) This was a labor of love and there are definitely a few tears on this cake. Thank you for letting me pour my heart out.

The day before my daughter’s birthday she found out she was expecting! So I decided to add a cute little baby on top and make it a double celebration! My daughter moved her party up 2 days so I didn’t have a lot of time to make this cake. I’m not happy at all with the flowers. They were suppose to be tulips her favorite flower but I don’t think they look like tulips at all. :( Oh well, I did what I could with the one evening I had to make this. The cake is a 6” x 6” butter cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing. All decorations are fondant. Thanks for looking!

The shells, etc. are made of white and milk chocolate. The lighthouse is a paper towel roll covered in fondant with a flameless tealight for the “light”. I made the dune fencing of balsa wood stained with food coloring. My sister loved the cake! That is what is most important to me! Special thanks to Cake Hatteras.

Sesame Street cake I made for my granddaughter’s 3rd birthday! Used a 8” hexagon pan and put a different scene on each side. We have, of course, Bert & Ernie’s house at 123 Sesame Street, Oscar the Grouch, Mr. Hooper’s Store (my favorite), Big Bird at the Park and I added a Pet Shop to Sesame Street because I wanted to use my new cute doggies molds! LOL!!! My daughter said there isn’t a pet shop on Sesame Street but I told her as the cake designer I have artistic license! LOL! The cake is vanilla with red, green, blue and yellow polka dots inside! My granddaughter LOVED her cake and all the kids at the party did too! That’s what makes all the hours of work worth it! Thanks for looking!
